It has been long known that unless these vintage trailers are stored inside, they do have a tendency to rot below the windows, along the seam lines, at the door and around the ceiling vent. If you can tarp it and a section at a time peel the tin off (which is quite easy) , and restore the rotten wood from the outside in, it will be a much easier restoration project. I am blessed to have an enclosed carport to keep my projects from being the neighbourhood eyesores and it allows me to pick away at getting a little progress done.

I’m about 1/4 the way thru rebuilding the rotten sections of my front corners of my Glendale. In the past my vintage trailer restoration projects have included a 1961 Shasta Compact, 1974, 1976 and 1977 Serro Scotty’s and a 1975 Boler. I have to divide my time between restoring my Glendale project as I have another vintage Shasta Compact to restore. Right now two trailers are waiting for me in the carport and their skins are being scrapped and repainted in my cellar. But I’m a slow moving disturbance on the best of days so my progress is slow when the temperatures dip a little to low for my hands to hold onto the Drexel oscillating tool.
